Camp Hope is a one day camp held annually for school-aged children (5-12) who are grieving the death of a close loved one. This year's camp will be Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Point Mallard Park. Camp Hope is designed to help children learn how to recognize and express their grief feelings in a healthy manner. Games, crafts, group discussion, pet therapy, and a variety of activities allow children to explore their grief in a safe and supportive environment. Each camper is paired with a specially-trained adult buddy who shadows the camper throughout the event. Family members are invited to attend a memorial slide show and dove release at the end of the day.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with set-up, activities, and clean-up. Adult buddy volunteers (18+) are always welcome, but will be asked to attend special training prior to camp.
